Burmese Cyclone Relief Party Q Bar

Q Bar Bangkok
Needs your help!

Saturday, May 17th

On Saturday, May 17th, Q Bar Bangkok in association with the International Burmese Monks Association (IMBA), will be holding a benefit to help support the hundreds of thousands of Burmese citizens whose lives have been affected by the disastrous impact of Cyclone Nargis. The IBMA will ensure that funds raised will go directly to those in need by transmiting funds directly to monasteries in affected areas.

In many of the worst-hit areas, the monasteries are the only source of shelter and food for Burma's poorest people. They have been on the front lines of the aid effort since the storm struck. Other forms of aid could be delayed, diverted or manipulated by the Burmese government--but the monks are the most trusted and reliable institution in the country.

As many of us now know from various news feeds, the death toll for this catastrophic event may reach into the 100,000’s. The number of lives impacted through loss of homes, lands, jobs, and ensuing disease could reach into the millions.

Shari Villarosa, who heads the U.S. Embassy in Myanmar, said food and water are running short in the delta area and called the situation there "increasingly horrendous."

Now is the time, for those of us fortunate enough to still have homes, food, and water, to act. Much like we did back in 2004 to support victims of the tsunami, Q Bar Bangkok would like to help raise funds and awareness for this crisis.

We will donate 200 Baht per paid entrance to help support the IMBA efforts.

In addition, guests are encouraged to make an additional personal donation into our IMBA box.

Free flow of Mandalay Rum Sours will be available from 10 PM – 11 PM.
Come join us and party for a cause on Saturday, May 17th.

800 Baht entrance includes 2 complimentary drinks
(200 Baht goes to IMBA)
